Apple Pie flaky, buttery crust! Can you taste it?  Oh, I will admit I do miss a traditional flaky apple pie.  But, This recipe is the next best if you are looking for a healthy alternative that is gluten-free, dairy-free!

Crustless Apple Pie

 

Serves 10

 

Ingredients

12 apples(peel and slice apples) (6 granny smith + 6 Braeburn or other sweet apple)

1/2 cup organic gluten-free oats

1/2 cup gluten-free flour or coconut flour

1/2 cup cassava or almond flour

1/2 tsp sea salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking powder

1/3 cup  grass-fed butter

1/2 cup applesauce

3 Tbps raw honey, maple syrup or coconut sugar + 3 Tbps for the crust

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or almonds(optional)

 

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

In a large bowl add sliced apples, 3 Tbsp honey(or sugar of choice), flours and applesauce.  Stir to coat apples set aside. In a food processor, add oats, remaining dry ingredients and last remaining sugar pulse to mix.  Add grass-fed butter pulse to make a cornmeal texture.

 

In a pie pan add 1/2 the crust sprinkle on the bottom.  Next layer the apples then top with the remaining dry crust ingredients. Top with nuts(optional)

 

 

Bake 40-45 minutes until bubbly.
